its my boi Frank!

I can’t say I loved this book, however I didn’t hate it. It was interesting how different it was from the Frankenstein I grew up knowing. The book was unique in the fact that the author kept changing narrators. It was also interesting how the story started with the ending… that one confused me at first. This novel describes a journey, a pursuit of knowledge. It also teaches a lesson, one must take responsibility for their actions. Frankenstein created the monster and needs to man up and suffer the consequences.

This is a Romantic novel and touches on all major aspects of Romanticism such as nature, isolationism, individuality, knowledge and many more. Knowledge can also be dangerous if you are not careful how you use it. It was probably not the best idea for Victor to create the monster. The novel is also sad at times like when the monster is looking for family and someone to accept him. I think the book kept people wondering what was going to happen and I thought it was uniquely written. Overall it was a good intro to Romanticism!

What a great (strange) start to the year!!! ;)

I can remember my first day in Mrs. Duke’s class like it was yesterday. I was the new guy who didn’t know anyone. Even though we had Mrs. Dukes class second period I had already heard enough stories about duke duke to make me want to give up then and there. I was so scared of her class. This is where Mrs. Duke can say I told ya so. She said don’t listen to what others say. She was right. Her class wasn’t anything like I expected.
English III this year has been a blast and I can honestly say duke-a-t-duke is my favorite teacher at EHS. There is just something about her that I like. She is so unique and different from all of the boring English teachers I have ever had. I will admit she gets testy at times but what person doesn’t. Her class keeps me on my toes and wondering what will come next.

We started out the year with post-colonialism… we had 1984 and then Conrad’s, Heart of Darkness. That first project was a real test to see how well I was going to do in her class. It was challenging but at the same time fun. We get to mix art with learning and I love that! We then moved on to Modernism and colonialism. And lastly we did Victorianism and Romanticism. In-between we threw in a little poetry. I will say if there is one thing duke taught me, it is to do my homework! If I do the homework, I learn the stuff… it is as simple as that!

So if anyone is reading this, Mrs. Duke’s class really isn’t that bad, and is a lot of fun!

and don’t forget to ask yo momma how she durin’
